Personal Care

Personal care consists of those tasks people would normally be able to do as part of their daily personal hygiene routine, but are unable to due to illness, disability or frailty.

At Sedcare, our carers will maintain and respect your privacy and dignity at all times when supporting you with your personal care needs. They will ask you your wishes, and talk you through everything they are doing so that you are confident and comfortable each step of the way.

Some examples of personal care:

Bathing/washing/ showering

Washing yourself in the bath or shower can feel like hard work, causing exhaustion which may snowball into an unproductive day due to fatigue.

Scrubbing your back or legs can be particularly challenging.

Our carers can assist you so that you are energised enough to do more with your day.

Continence support

Continence is a subject many people find difficult to talk about or seek help for. We understand that you may feel self-conscious and frustrated if your concerns are not well managed. With compassion, dignity and respect, our carers can assist you to the toilet, support you with toileting, changing continence pads, and refreshing those intimate areas.

Dressing

We all like to select our clothes for the day, ensuring they are appropriate for the weather and make us look presentable. It can sometimes be a cumbersome task to put on those niggly items such as socks/stockings, bra, or braces for trousers. With a carer, getting dressed and undressed can be much quicker and simpler.

Oral hygiene

Whatever your oral hygiene routine may be, a carer can support you through it. This includes preparing your teethbrushing area and products for your ease of access, assisting you to brush your teeth, denture care,  and other areas of oral hygiene.
